The Public School Market in Michigan: An Analysis of Schools of Choice

Audrey Spalding, director of education policy, explains the details of a new study on Schools of Choice. Nearly 100,000 Michigan students use Schools of Choice to attend a school outside of the district in which they live. The study measures growth over time and geographic spread, and reveals student and parental preferences the program brings to light. The study finds that SOC participation has grown by 144 percent over the past 10 years.
