Despite Media Reports, Michigan's Revenues are Increasing

MLive columnist Susan Demas inaccurately reported in a column about the state budget about the state’s General Fund: “Revenues are running lower for next year to the tune of $532 million.”

ForTheRecord says: Michigan’s General Fund is getting more revenue. Not less. An official state Revenue Estimating Conference consensus last week projects General Fund revenue to increase from $9.85 billion to $10.08 billion from fiscal year 2014-15 to FY 2015-16. These projections are down from an earlier estimate but they continue to show increased revenue for the state’s General Fund.
