Families Paying $1 Billion More In State Income Tax

Michigan families and small businesses have increased the amount they pay in state income taxes by $1.1 billion over the past four years. The state collected $8.27 billion in personal income tax in 2013 and $9.37 billion in 2016. Last week, the Michigan House defeated a bill to partially roll back a “temporary” income tax hike imposed in 2007, most of which was made permanent in 2012.
