Kid Rock: ‘Work Your Butt Off And Pay Taxes’

Some of those taxes may have been promised to brewer of Kid Rock’s beer

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, is considering a run as a Republican next year for the Michigan U.S. Senate seat currently held by Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat. Kid Rock recently announced his platform: “I believe if you work your butt off and pay taxes, you should be able to easily understand and navigate the laws, tax codes, health care and anything else the government puts in place that affects us all.”

ForTheRecord says: Kid Rock did not articulate a policy position on corporate welfare, and his songs are also silent on the issue. But in 2009, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation awarded a $723,000 tax incentive package to the maker of his beer – the Michigan Brewing Company. The MEDC does not release the information needed to determine if the brewer received any of the money before going out of business in 2013.
