Schwarzenegger's Son Lands Role in Minor Film; State Cuts $140,000 Check

The Detroit Free Press and MLive both reported this week that there’s a Schwarzenegger movie being filmed in Detroit.

Except, it’s not Arnold. It’s his 21-year-old son Patrick in the movie "North." Patrick's past roles are described by IMDB as “Jock Kid Game #3” in The Benchwarmers (2006) and “Frat Boy Cooper” in Grown Ups 2 (2013). Both media outlets reported that the Michigan Film Office awarded the film $140,000 in subsidies.

ForTheRecord says: The movie “North” is described as "a dramatic search for what remains of a post-cataclysmic world."

The media reported that the director Matt Ogens sent out Tweets promoting the film, one of which was what appeared to be a dilapidated crumbling home in Detroit. Ogens added “#Detroit.”

Because when Hollywood needs a "post-cataclysmic world" why not go to Detroit and take their money? #Detroit

Film incentives have ended in Michigan, but cash will still be handed out to projects approved prior to their elimination.

Good bye, film subsidies. You’ll be missed as much as a Patrick Schwarzenegger movie.
