Michigan Capitol Confidential published a story on Feb. 26 about a Bridge magazine article that appeared under the rubric “Michigan’s Truth Squad.”

The subtitle of the Michigan Capitol Confidential item described the Truth Squad as “a group of unnamed reporters” based on Bridge’s descriptions of Truth Squad content as a collaborative work. However, the Center for Michigan said this story was written by Riley Beggin, and was published under her byline.

Also, the final sentence in the Michigan Capitol Confidential article stated, “Bridge Magazine Editor David Zeman didn't respond to an email seeking comment.” Michigan Capitol Confidential sent Zeman an email saying it was doing a story taking issue with assertions made in the Feb. 22 Truth Squad article.

The Center for Michigan objected to the Michigan Capitol Confidential story saying Zeman didn’t respond because the email sent to him did not pose a question.
