The Job No One Wants

Detroit Public Schools advertised for about 80 job openings from July 2015 to June 2016. The response to announcements for teaching jobs varied. A position for an adult education teacher got 32 applicants. A K-5 teaching position had 80 applicants. A high school science teacher received two applicants, according to a Freedom of Information Act request.

But there was one job that didn’t get a single application. No one applied for the full-time police officer position that would serve the Detroit Public Schools.
