Pandemic’s Progress: 13 Michigan COVID Deaths On July 10 Versus 232 On April 21

On July 10, Michigan’s governor imposed a statewide face mask mandate

Through the first 10 days of July, Michigan has seen a total of 91 deaths linked to COVID-19.

On April 21, to put that into context, 232 people in the state died of the novel coronavirus, representing the highest single-day count, according to the New York Times.

Also on April 21, 1,095 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Michigan, and 7,369 people were tested, according to Johns Hopkins University.

On July 10, there were 13 deaths in Michigan linked to COVID-19, and 23,252 people were tested for the virus, or three times the number tested on April 21.

Also on July 10, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer imposed a statewide executive order mandating everyone to wear a face mask in any indoor public space, and outdoors where six feet of social distancing is not possible.
