Average federal worker gets $124,600 in pay and benefits

Actor Matthew McConaughey interviewed Dr. Anthony Fauci on Instagram on Aug. 13 and asked the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases about matters related to the current epidemic.

McConaughey: “Do you have money invested in a vaccine?”

Fauci: “Zero! I am a government worker and I have a government salary.”

In 2019, Fauci’s salary was $417,608, according to FedsDataCenter.com. The salary information comes from public records released by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and other government agencies.

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the average private sector worker earns compensation (salary plus benefits) worth $77,700 per year in this country. The average compensation of state and local government workers is worth $95,700 per year. Federal government workers collect and average $124,600 per year in pay and benefits.
