Michigan Teachers Union Video Disses Profession, Misinforms On Pay

The Michigan Education Association recently posted a video demeaning the teaching profession as various teachers complained about their job.

“I’ve lost money staying in the profession because our salaries have decreased,” said Grand Rapids Public Schools’ teacher Lisa Honeycutt.

Honeycutt’s gross pay has increased from $56,234 in 2013-14 to $64,500 in 2019-20, a 15% increase over that six-year period. Gross pay includes all forms of compensation a teacher receives from the school district, including activities such as coaching sports teams to working summer school.
